Procedure
Breast reduction surgery can be performed at any age, though it
will be recommended by your surgeon to wait until your breast development

The most common method of reducing the breasts involves three incisions.
Through these incisions your surgeon will remove excess breast tissue,
fat, skin and the nipple and areola are shifted to a higher position.
The areola, which is usually enlarged, will also be reduced. Skin

together to shape the breast. Liposuction many be used to improve
contour under the arm.

Side Effects
You will experience temporary bruising and swelling that will subside
within a couple of weeks. You will have discomfort and pain that
can be controlled by medication prescribed by your surgeon. You
may notice a loss of sensation in the nipple and areola area, this
usually is temporary. It may however take weeks, months or even
longer before sensation returns to normal. Your incisions will initially
be red or pink in color; this will remain for many months following
surgery.
Risks
Fortunately, significant complications from this procedure are infrequent,
and thousands of people undergo this procedure with no complications.

of the benefits and risks. The potential complications of this surgery

some complications that may be discussed include bleeding, infection,
and reactions to anesthesia. Permanent loss of sensation in nipples

Recovery
After your surgery in most cases you are able to return back to
work in 2 to 3 weeks depending on your job. After 3 to 4 weeks you
can resume most your normal activities, including some mild exercise.
Sexual activity should be avoided for a minimum of one week, and
your surgeon may advise longer.
